ive been taking klonopin prn when i feel super anxious,but, lately its been pretty often and im wondering if i should just stop klonopin completely because i was reading about how bad benzo or alcohol withdrawal can be if you become dependent and i dont want to risk it
Its harder to get dependent if you’re truly using it as a prn,
Just because you’re not taking it as often.
But you’re saying you’re taking it too much and mixing it with alcohol,
Which raises a lot of red flags.
I recommend quitting both.

I had a difficult time coming off 0.5mg/day clonazepam. I was on it for a year.
Alcohol nearly killed me. I’m an alcoholic.
You can tell your doctor you want something else for anxiety.

I take two Clonazepam a day by schedule and 1 Lorazepam at bedtime.

GPs and pdocs usually prescribe benzos for those trying to quit alcohol.

Benzo withdrawal is horrible, I recommend slowly tapering off of them.
I’d say both have potential to be real dangerous but alcohol is more recreational while benzos are more medicinal.
Usually it’s when you use it for the wrong purpose you have a problem
If you use benzos for recreation, you probably have a bit of a problem
If you use alcohol to medicate, you probably have a bit of a problem
So a little thing of opposites going on there.

ive only drank a 4th of a beer this whole year i felt like if i drank with benzos in my system i might black out so i didnt drink any more i still want to get off benzos.
been taking it once a week for the past 2 months with 2 8-12 day periods of not taking at all but this past week i took it every two days, i dont think ill have withdrawal if i stop completely but i dont want to have to take it daily
i feel like im not really too much having a problem with benzos. i took a higher dose more often when i was smoking cigarettes because they reduced the effectiveness,
the thing is that benzos dont feel recreational to me, it just actually works like a med without making me intoxicated like when i would drink. i just want to be able to have the occasional drink without worrying about issues because i might have benzos in my system. i think i will probably drink as a very rare thing tho because alcoholism is so common

I take diazepam every night. It is the only thing that quiets my racing thoughts. I know I might have trouble coming off of it some day, but I have come off of them before, and I will again when I have to.
Benzos and alcohol are both potentially terrible trouble.

My pdoc doesn’t give me benzos, even if I suffer from agoraphobia

I take benzo’s because they help. Zyprexa helps with hallucinations and benzo’s help with paranoia and anxiety. I’ve been addicted to a few substances but benzo withdraws are some of the worst. They’re as bad as cigarettes to me. They help with my illness but I hate how tired they make me. I was on 1 mg of Ativan 3 times a day but my anxiety was still horrible. My doctor just switched me to Valium which is stronger but it makes me too tired. I’m telling my doctor I want to go back to Ativan. I wish I didn’t need the stuff because I hate the withdraws but I also hate the anxiety too.
