It sounds like they only allowed it because they say that the FDA did not have the authority to ban it. Sounds like it’s up to the states to decide.

The center said it only uses shocks with approval from a patient’s family and a local judge. Flammia said that the shock treatment is necessary to prevent the patients from violent self-injury.

I don’t know what to think … It’s all a bit disturbing…

When I was in state hospital, I watched a guy get electric shock with door open and awake. He was yelling.

Wikipedia page on this place … also states that 90% of residents are in racial minority groups

I don’t want to read the Wiki, as it’ll be super triggering for me, but:

That’s simply outrageous. I would have expected better from a Blue state like Massachusetts.

I feel sick knowing this is happening in the states, let alone in my backyard.
