I feel a little short of breath, a little lightheaded, and my arms and legs are tingly/numb… I’ve had this for the past week every morning about 1 or 2 hours after taking my Abilify and it lasts for 2 or 3 hours. Does anyone else have this or know what it is?
Yes, that. And droooooooooooooooling all over the place. Disgusting. I didn’t last long on it – went back to Geodon quickly. I referred to the med as DisAbilify given how poorly it managed my symptoms.
My symptoms actually seem to be better the past 2 or 3 days, like it might be working. I see my psychiatrist tomorrow. I’m on 15mg now and I think she’ll probably keep me on that. I’m not feeling as depressed actually. Hopefully she won’t increase my Seroquel.
Hmm, never had that from Abilify. I was on 15 mg oral for a couple years, and now I get the Aristada shot that is supposed to be equivalent to 20 mg/day of oral Abilify. For me, Abilify has been the only AP that is effective without side effects, guess I’ve been fortunate when it comes to that drug.
I take 15mg. Plus 100-200 of Seroquel.
Yeah, it helps with my depression quite a bit, too.
Seroquel caused me akathisia, hated it, couldn’t sleep on it, though not quite as bad as the akathisia from Zyprexa.
The Seroquel, even 50mg of it, knocks me out. The past week has been rough taking it twice a day because I sleep all night and then take it again in the morning and go straight back to bed. Not used to that.
I’ve never had that from Abilify. It’s the only med I tried that has no side effects. I’m on 25 mg. And 300 mg Seroquel.
Yeah, I’ve heard of Seroquel being helpful with sleep for most people. For me, I would be pacing around my apt all night because I couldn’t stop moving, it was awful. I’m glad you don’t have that problem with it, though.
I was that way on Haldol. Only drug that’s given me akathisia. I hated it. And Latuda gave me terrible anxiety, even Xanax wouldn’t help. My doctor is considering Clozaril if I don’t “show significant improvement” when I see her tomorrow.
Have you ever taken Clozaril before? I’m not familiar with that one, just have heard about it on this forum. I kinda wish my dr would add something for me, but instead she just upped the Aristada to the highest strength, then increased the frequency of the shot from the normal every 4 weeks to every 3 weeks. There’s nothing more she can do with the Aristada at this point, and I swear it doesn’t work as well as oral Abilify, but I don’t have insurance to pay for that. The last time I saw the nurse for my injection I told her that “I realize I might have to accept a certain level of crazy in me.” I think that’s the truth, though. I’m pretty stable - at least, I’m not worried about potentially having an actual psychotic break, and the symptoms are no longer impacting my abilities at work, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.
I’ve never taken Clozaril but I know it’s definitely not something you add on! It’s very serious. Clozaril is only given if you’ve tried a number of other meds and they didn’t work well. Clozaril has a lot of very serious side effects and potentially life threatening ones. But on the plus side it works better than anything else.
