Amazon Echo Show 10 (Smart Home Hub)

This smart home hub is such an innovative and remarkable invention. The Echo Show 10 can swivel 180 degrees from either side of its home position allowing it to face the home user directly. The device also plays songs from Amazon Music as well as plays TV shows & movies from Amazon Prime Video. It can access video cameras monitoring both the front & back doors but also control lights, regulate temperature and control smart devices like robotic vacuums. Lastly, the Amazon Alexa app can be configured with numerous voice commands.

@everhopeful I would agree with the news article by “The Verge” that if one is to experience the full vast array of Amazon Alexa features that they would need to pay the premium subscription fee. There are some software bugs to work out such as “Alexa, turn (on) the TV” or “Alexa, switch to H-D-M-I 2”. These voice commands function half the time during daylight hours. Alexa commands don’t operate during night hours. Even making video calls to & from a smartphone connecting to an Amazon Echo Show must cost Amazon a great expense at a dollar figure of $25 billion as the news article states.

Not paying for it. I’m happy with Alexa turning things on and off.

LOL. The full range of features that Amazon Alexa offers could benefit you in one way or another.

I think it would require home internet Wi-Fi to work? I don’t have internet so doubt I’d be able to use it. It looks really cool, tho…

Yes, this smart home hub requires residential Internet using Wi-Fi to operate normally as well as an Amazon account which the device registers to. The robotic swivel which turns the unit left or right is a marvelous feature so that the 10" screen faces the user.

Not really interested in having Alexa doing more than she is now, to be honest.

This brings back bad memories.

Fair enough. I am looking forward to be able to open apps via voice commands and give commands to appliances without needing to to use a remote control or touching a user interface. Eventually, voice commands will be replaced by brain waves that our heads emit or also known as brain to computer interactions.

I’m not especially interested in sending voice commands to my refrigerator.
