Am I insane for wanting a perm?

I know perms are kind of a joke of the salon world,

But I’m seriously considering one.

My hair is lifeless.

So long and boring.

I want hair with body and volume.

I had a perm in the 90s, but am hoping advances in technology will make this experience better.

What do you think?

Crazy or not?

I got a perm in the 1980s

I think that you hair currently looks great

If you decide to get a perm, make sure you go to a really good salon.

If your hair is thick, long and course like mine, the perm ends up very frizzy for a while, before it loosens. I would ask for the largest curler possible, to get bigger looser locks. Since your hair is really long, you might just end up with either waves or small curls that are too tight. Just make sure it’s done by a professional. Just my experience.

I’m so old and far from a salon that I didn’t even know perms are no longer classy.

I want to say that you are beautiful no matter what and you should what pleases you. And a perm might be kind of fun and different. You would be able to play around with it and stuff. But I want to also say that you have really pretty natural hair and I like that natural look you have going. But I doubt you are trying to attract 55 year old schizophrenic females so maybe the perm is a good idea. lol.

Haha!

It’s hair.

I had fun coloring it last year and want another change this year.

Just called the salon for a consultation.

Told my husband and he just made big eyes.

Whateves.

What is big eyes supposed to mean? Is that like fear, or excitement?

Definitely fear.

He has natural curly hair and hates it.

I think that is so funny. It seems like all the curly haired people say they hate their hair and many straighten and yet all the straight hair people are coveting the beautiful curls.

My daughter was born with curly hair. When we got her first cut it took all the curl out and for the next 22 years her hair was stick straight. Then for some reason her curls came back and her hair is super curly and she loves it. She knows what it’s like to live on the limp, lifeless side.

My son had my husband’s super curly blonde hair when he was born and until he was about five.

Then it got darker and less curly.

Now it’s a darker blonde with some texture.

Funny how it changes.

It is funny. My son was born with platinum blonde hair and as he grew it slowly got darker. Eventually he became a brunette.

I hear really curly haired men hate it then shave it off. It looks like pubes on your head.

I LOVE the idea of a perm, honestly

Do it! If you hate it, you can always just wash your hair with the not-perm-safe stuff until it goes away, right?

I’m planning on buying a crimping iron.
Maybe you could buy one too.

Perms can damage the hair a lot.
So can crimp irons I guess.

Last two times I got a perm it didn’t work.
My hair was flat the next day.

I have fine thin hair though.

It can look great if done well.
