ADs and APs interaction

I read that APs antagonize several serotonin receptors reducing serotonin function while most ADs increase serotonin availablity meaning they do the opposite, increasing serotonin function at all serotonin receptors including those blocked by APs. Do ADs reduce APs efficacy? I have a serotonin increasing supplement 5htp I tried but I think it made me manic and almost psychotic at the same time.

I wonder what these serotonin receptors blocked by APs do. Are they for positive symptoms? Or weight gain?

I just read that typicals don’t touch serotonin receptors. Atypicals act on several serotonin receptors which some are for negative symptoms. Weird risperidone is one and doesn’t help my negatives, I think its either bs or its effect is cancelled by the higher dopamine blockade.

ADs are like fuel to the fire for mania. If you are prone mania they will make it happen, i had visions on prozac while still taking risperidone.

I believe I had mania on Abilify which has antidepressant properties, I felt the same on 5htp that increase serotonin like ADs. I believe increasing the function of some serotonin receptors make me manic. Idk how its possible given that I have sz and not sza.

Is it possible for a sz to have mania? Maybe ADs or substance/med induced?

I wish I had a pdoc to ask questions to.

Your case is kind of confusing since i have read you need to have atleast one case of mania, to be diagnosed with bipolar or sza even if you haven’t had depression. Yeah that would be a good question for your pdoc.

I don’t have a pdoc since Jan 2021 and I can’t get one now. I am on a long waiting list to know if I am accepted.

Olanzapine is Rxed for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder as well. When I took ADs on their own I felt like nearing mania. But when I combined mirtazapine with olanzapine I felt nothing. After few days I started feeling stiffness in muscles/tightness in jaw. I stopped mirtazapine.

Someone on internet told me APs block action of ADs in brain. I forgot to ask him about source of this info.
