Accepting leadership or not? how much leadership do free people need?

well i dont know honestly, i wonder if accepting leadership is cultural. like some people look to their leaders for guidance, but if that is the case, can they really call themselves free people?

thoughts?

im starting to see life as a big compromise, working together to try to get the things you want. and enjoying your freedom as much as is allowed.

There is always going to be a hierarchy. Indeed, it’s even needed for the survival of society.

As long as the leaders are elected by the public we have nothing to fear. The leaders implement the will of the people who elect them.

Hitler was also elected by the public.

The Nazis won the election of 1932 by a plurality of the vote, not a majority. Then Hitler burned down the Riechstag and seized absolute power. It wasn’t exactly a free and fair election. The system of checks and balances is what protects people from the excesses of the majority. That’s what keeps everybody in line.

I think we are seeing people disagree with leadership more and more. Democracy is failing in the US. But we need leaders or else it would be chaos

People love to be told what to do, some people crave it, and I wish in the US that our election was solely by the people, the last election was chosen by the electoral college, with out getting political I hope we can get a new party or revise our political structure so it favors more than ultra rich ceo’s. I don’t know why people think we need a leader, we’ve all been trained that we can’t think for our selves.

Life is a string of mentors.

Even Sikhs calls God ā€œThe Great Professorā€. I feel this isn’t something you can really avoid. You’re always learning from something.

I often think about the phrase ā€œit takes a village to raise a childā€ but we don’t just magically know everything when were legally an adult, we learn off of each other til we die. It takes planet to live with a human or something.

Some form of leadership would probably be present even in prehistoric societies practising primitive communism, but there is also plenty of evidence from anthropology, sociology and social psychology of how this ā€˜natural’ phenomena is culturally activated and understood in different societies throughout history. So there is no excuse for meekly accepting authority lying down. A democracy is only as good as its checks and balance and a healthy democratic culture among its citizenry. I personally have no need or desire for strong leaders.

I think you just need leadership, because they’re are so many criminals. They won’t let anyone live. They have a fit about me living in poverty and I would have about a $50,000 pension, if it weren’t for people like them.

That’a really Hobbesian! I seriously doubt that lack of leadership is the cause of the high crime rate experienced in the US.

It may be. But there’s a lot of people who need protection. You may be living in a dream world, but I’ve had people trying to make sure, for years, that I didn’t have a penny, just so I couldn’t protect myself from a bunch of phony a-holes.

I’m a bit that way too.

I don’t think I am entirely but certainly that way enclined.

I don’t believe I have superiors.

My x in sa is the best leader in the world and I would do as he says mostly if I agree but not if it stops me from being true to myself such as he doesn’t believe in climate change and didn’t want me vegan and I couldn’t let him be the boss over me when it came to that.

Some leaders are haters and that is not my truth.

Love is my truth.

I believe people misuse power and suppress others and put others down to make them selves feel better.

I have a manager at volunteer work and she knows what needs to be done and I don’t so she tells me what needs to be done and I say yes or no but she is not my superior.i love her but I don’t believe I’m beneath her.

My mum thinks most people want a leader telling them what to do and she is a bit disgusted by that.

My x in sa is the best leader as he doesn’t talk down at people he is directing and brings out the best in them.

Maybe I should be a anarchist more than I am.

I’m definitely a bit that way and any leadership is to be done cool :sunglasses: and not talking down at and they are not superior.

My x is right winged and I’m not.

No I’m not much for all of that.

Some people have disgusting behaviour they think they have power and misuse it and hate a lot etc

I can’t explain how I believe but I’m definitely not believing in superiors no matter how they suppress me or put me down or scare me it’s not my belief.
