Abilify insomnia

Hello,

This post has already been posted 6 years ago but i Wonder if someone has something new to Say as i am in lot of pain.

“Anybody here recovered from Abilify-induced insomnia? I’m the opposite from most people. Mine started as soon I as I started abilify but what I’m reading most is insomnia happened only after they’ve started tapering/withdrawing the drug. I can fall asleep at about 10pm but I can’t stay asleep. I would wake up multiple times a night every 1-2 hours it seems. And by 2am or 4am I’m already wide awake not feeling rested at all. I’ve also lost the ability to nap during the day. I’m worried about permanent damage to my sleep and not being able to sleep properly again.
Anybody experienced the same and recovered their sleep?”

I had 30 mg/day pills for one month and then 300mg injection. It’s been 5 months off meds and i still sleep as bad as in the post.

Yes, I have bad sleep due to abilify. I have to use an antidepressant to help me normalise my sleep

Edit: if you have a psychotic illness; it’s very likely you will have a relapse off of medication.

I got off Aripiprazole for this very reason. I took the injections for 7 months, which are very powerful however your 30mg is a very high and powerful daily dose. I slept very badly throughout that time (didn’t help that I had come off Paliperidone which was even worse than Aripiprazole) and had to rely on the antidepressant Mirtazapine to aid my sleep, and even then it was poor.

Well now I am off this Aripiprazole drug which as far as I’m concerned should never be taken at high doses and even the injection should come down to 200mg (usually minimum injection is 300mg, which I was on), it is nasty and dangerous, I have heard of poor people taking it and not sleeping at all.
