I have heard a couple of members say that they began to lose hair due to Abilify. I am on it and am wondering how many of those on it are experiencing hair loss due to Abilify.
I’ve read that it’s supposed to be a rare side effect but am wondering about your personal experiences.
My hair is definitely thinner, but I’m 52.
I took Abilify before I got on Olanzapine, and I personally didnt lose any hair on it.
I was on abilify for year no hair loss
My hair fell out when I last stopped abilify, because I stopped eating. Not had any problems with hair loss on it though.
I am on Abilify and am experiencing hair loss.
I was on Abilify and had hair loss so bad I had to cut my long beautiful hair.
I’ve been off it for a while now and the hair is starting to grow back and not fall out as much.
My doctor denied it being a side effect for the longest time.
How are you managing without an AP @Charles_Foster?
Pretty well.
Still have some issues, but they’re manageable.

Abilify totally ruined my curly hair. It caused my hair to become dry, brittle and fall out in handfuls. I know it was the abilify because I stopped taking it for a year and my hair condition improved immensely during that year.
I am now on Rexulti and the same thing has happened, dry, brittle and tons of hair loss. I am at the point where I feel like having a buzz cut as it is so upsetting.
I’m on abilify and my hair is still falling out but not as much on a lower dose.
Will perhaps come off it one day and hopefully it will grow back.
Under supervision of a pdoc.
But I’m not yet sure if I’m coming off
