A little excited but not getting my hopes up

I got called a couple of days ago about a vacant studio in this apartment building I applied to 7 months ago. I’m going for an interview the 30th, they want to see pay stubs, bank statements, award letters etc. I really hope I get this place, the only catch is the rent is between $600-$900, they haven’t specified the exact amount yet. I’m paying $654 a month now for my 2 bedroom apartment I share, I can afford to go as high as $800 but no way could I afford $900. I have to wait and see what they want to charge me. Oh yeah, I read some reviews on Yelp and the place got some bad reviews. Like people said it wasn’t safe, it was dirty and had a lot of mentally ill people living there who weren’t getting the treatment they need. I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it sounds. Crossing fingers.

Thanks @Tulane and @GrayBear. The place I’m at now was built in the 1940’s and is kind of dingy and dusty but it’s not a bad place to live. I’m thinking this new place can’t be much worse.

Sounds like a studio apartment where I live. It isn’t safe either and rented by unfortunate people due to addiction. It’s ok to live there, just try to mind my business and don’t ask too many questions.
