“Put it into a suitcase and carry it with you" -James Hillman (on heaviness of soul)
I like this quote because it speaks of a way of relating to your depression. Putting it in a suitcase is a way of detaching from the swamp of misery. Carrying it with you is a way of keeping it close, at the same time. It’s a perfect mix.
One problem I have (I have clinical depression with psychotic features) is that I have been mildly to severely depressed since grade five (nine years ago), and I kind of forget what a normal, balanced mood feels like. So I don’t even recognize my depression, and if you don’t recognize something you can’t get work through it. this is something I will have to work on.
Depression , Honestly True Depression Does Naught Lead to Violence and Such , but Thanks For tha Compliment , Your Gurl Did Enjoi that Type of Freakiness (!!!)
I don’t even know what you mean by that, but others would be at odds with you for considering me a frightening person. Please do not tell people they don’t have true depression. How much more ignorant can you get?
This was my situation for a long, long time, @Nomad. I had been depressed so long that depression was just normal for me. It was hopefulness and happiness that were strange and unimaginable to me.
It sucks, all ambition and motivation just vanishes. No reason to expect anything to go well or get better, so why try? You have to work on it without hope, without any expectation that it will do any good at all. And slowly it does, anyway.
