30 Runs in 30plus degree heat!

So we got a flogging again today in cricket. It’s hot and humid. It was well over 30 degrees which gets a little toasty when your covered in gear and wear a helmet. Anyways we batted first and I batted for a long time. Ended up second top score with a well made 30. Got out to a dumb one. Just left a ball which took out my off stump! Cricket is good like that. They say you are only as good as your last innings and you can surprise yourself with dumb choices!

So. It’s good to be back playing and it’s good to contribute even though we lost badly!

Every time you talk about cricket, I think of that scene from “The Beach” where the guy explains cricket and goes “does anyone not understand?” Or something, and everyone raises their hands, haha :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m gonna have to subscribe to cable to figure out what you’re talking about. It’s reprehensible that your talking sports and I don’t understand. Definitely a guy thing. So I assume you had a good match?

@Pikasaur yeah it’s an acquired taste but some know the game! The rest I plan on converting to the cause.

@gene. 30 is a pretty good score. A great score is 100. A terrible score is 0. Anything positive is a start. Check out some of the youtube cricket feeds. It’s a great game. Very technical but anyone can become good at it. It’s a team game but it has individual aspects which makes it a great game to play!

Do you get soaked in sweat when you do cricket in 30 degrees?

@anon9798425. You get used to the humidity but you sweat especially under a helmet and your gloves usually end up soaked if you spend enough time out there!

That’s not so bad. I thought maybe the sweat was dripping from your clothes while you were being cooked sous vide.

I can’t wait until I have time to visit Australia!

This is awesome, good score and bad luck that you didn’t end up making a half century! I’ve played cricket for 10 years since under 14’s, I am a medium pace bowler and open the bowling and bat at sixth, I’m south Australian what state are you from? Guess what? I’m going to the test match this week! Going on day 3 on Saturday as I have to work Thursday and Friday, can’t wait!

Cool @Lm1990 ! I’m from just north of Brisbane Australia Qld. Enjoy the test it should be interesting. We have the bowling but that batting can be fickle. Still. You’ll get to see some great cricket!

Thanks, I’m really looking forward to the match, it should be interesting to see how our batting goes without Smith and Warner, India have a strong side. Queensland is nice, I’ve never been to Brisbane but I’ve been to the Gold Coast and the theme parks as a kid. What winter sport are you into? I know QLD is a rugby state , I don’t mind the NRL but I’m mainly a big AFL fan, my team is Port Adelaide Power, I’ve even been to the MCG for an AFL grand final, shame it was 2007 and not 2004 when we won it! If you don’t know 2007 is the year Port lost to Geelong by a record 119 points ! It was a horrible match but still a good experience, thanks mate!

Tests are always great. Usually go with little brothers to the first day of the Gabba test it’s kinda a tradition up here but it’s expensive and we don’t get the first test this year to your gain!

Into rugby league and follow it a bit. I’ve been to a Sydney grand final and had a similar experience. Great day but horrible game. Don’t really follow AFL but most folk say it’s better to see live. I might get to a game one day. I’d love to do the MCG for the boxing day test and may be one day If I have some spare coin!

Enjoy the test!
