To some of the more opinionated posters. what is your level of function

I’ll start , I’m semi functional , do not hold a job , I do attend college part time , I take meds at a therapeutic dose , I live independently. I consider myself between managing and recovered.

I do think that anyone expressing views , in a very forthright way should let us know how functional you are. Basically how successful your views are, in inspiring recovery in yourself

Who here considers themselves high-functioning? If so, how highly functioning?

The title is “Who here considers themselves high-functioning? If so, how highly functioning?” I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia about 7 years ago. I have worked for more than the last 5.5 years straight, with most of that time being covered with full time work, and about 6 months of it being very close to full-time work. In my first episode before the diagnosis, I was arrested and put in a holding cell, due to behavior caused by my admittedly severe psychosis at the time. The prosecutor plea-bargained for 2 years probation because she seemed to believe the truth that I was quite insane. Since then, I had one psychotic episode after my original psychiatrist weaned me off the medic…

Since then, I got another full-time technical job with ‘Engineer’ in the title. My psychiatrist seems to be considering changing my diagnosis from schizoaffective to autism spectrum disorder partly because I’ve functioned so well on such a low dose of medication for so long. I’ve almost always been medication compliant, except for a few days within about a month of when I started taking medication.
