YouTubes on how to oil paint?

I want to get into the hobby. Don’t have materials yet but I’m saving up for them. I want to use oils.

Are there any YouTube channels that are good at teaching the art?

My grandfather is a professional artist and he does a lot of oil paintings. He’s won awards in France and America for it

That’s impressive! I have a few ideas but they fall under cubism which I heard is hard and takes experience.

My grandfather does impressionist and post-impressionist.

I’m not sure what cubism is

Picasso falls under cubism, I think.

Oh, I see, so it’s more abstract.

Yeah I want to do stuff like this

That looks pretty hard.

My mom told me to try other styles first (she paints sometimes and is pretty talented)

She said cubism is very difficult

Yeah, I mean if you’re just starting out it looks tough. My grandfather has two college degrees for it, one in the Chicago art institute

I went to your the Chicago Art Institute for my photography but never enrolled. Seemed like a nice place

That’s cool as hell man. Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

Gotta learn the basics first. Cubism is awesome though and I hope I can get to that point. Got the ideas but lack the education (like brushstrokes etc) to make them a reality.

I don’t have the patience for oils…I use acrylics…dries within thirty mins. after applying it…don’t give up if you find oils difficult…I learned from taking lessons in oil painting to do the darker elements of the painting first and then add on top of that.
