Hiw dk you distinguish the difference between what you worry about and what is paranoia? For example. Every time i drive i think the cops are behind me. Is that paranoia or worry? I can see they arent behind me but i always think they will be somewhere along the road or pull out behind me

I’m not sure. But I deal with the same thing. I view it as paranoia personally. Mainly because I’ll believe they will arrest me. Even though I’ve done nothing illegal. But they will find something, is my thinking. I also have paranoia about being followed by a couple of individuals.
Sometimes i think my dad is following me to make sure i dont get beer. Thats usally enough to freak me out for 10 hours
That would be hard for sure. My dad keeps having to call the police on my aunt’s bf. So I’m paranoid he’ll follow me home when I go visit. Then paranoid about my ex wife finding out where I live too. She sometimes texts me that she sees me driving.
That sounds more like anxiety about cops rather than paranoia. I had to realize a lot of what I thought was paranoia was really anxiety. Paranoia for me was being followed by people in golden SUV’s who were trying to harm my family. I learned that for me anxiety is much different once my pdoc explained some differences.
Paranoia is generally conspiratorial in nature, while your issue sounds like you’re anxious a cop will pull you over.
With that being said, and this is most important, I’m not a mental health professional and I’d ask your pdoc so they can guide you to proper treatment.

Thanks @Hemy . I do deal with a great deal kf anxiety. Sometimes i get mixed uo on what is paranoia and what is anxiety. They are very closely related. Last night before bed i kept thinking i was going tl die by a robber entering the house cause my window was open. I wasnt really paranoid but my mind was definitely racing. It was an unusual night. Usually im asleep.by 8pm. But last night i was up till midnight/1am just thinking crazy thoughts. Im wondering if im going through some sort lf hypomania.
