Wife in hospital - update

She was taken in this morning for emergency surgery to her abdomen for some bad blockage causing issues. They couldnt tell from scans exactly what needed to be done the surgeon said he would have to get in there and see what was going on and she was close losing kidney and liver function at the time and with those two go your life. They literally had her preped for surgery 12 mins after the surgeon saw the scans i saw him, no joke, sprinting thru the hospital to get my signature to approve the procedure.

They ended up removing 3ft of dead intestine that got bound up, but the surgery went extremely well with no complications. But my mind is blown. 3 fcking feet of dead organ, god knows how long its been bad and it really explains a ton of issues shes had for the past 2 years or more, my girl is a trooper!! 3 god damn feet!! Holy sht!!

Non of this helps with the siezures but being able to eat properly again and not live with constant nausea has to help replentish the system and help in some mannor i would imagine.

Shes in ICU on a ventilater just for precaution and they plan on taking her off of it tomorrow. Her kidney function has returned to normal and they got it quick enough before it damaged the liver. Great doctor’s and staff here at paoli, Pennsylvania. We passed 4 hospitals from our house and drove almost an hour to come here for a reason.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Its all just starting to hit me now and im trying not to get emotional and let my mind get the best of me. Headed home for the first sleep in a few of the most stressful days ive ever had. Hoping not to break down on the ride home or when i get there so just gonna blare music the whole way and try my best to keep a clear mind. I feel the weight lifted but then it all hits me on how close i came to losing her. The surgeon said she was hours if not minutes from complete organ shutdown. I have never seen so many people move so fast. Its nice being around medical practitioners who truly do care. I couldnt stop hugging the surgeon after he was done and talking to me about the procedure and that she was in great shape now and everything went off without a hitch. I feel blessed today, santa came a little early for me this year!!

It is definitely good you have such a great medical team. You both are in my thoughts and I want you both to pull through. May next year be a better year and a breath of fresh air for you.

how did she get that much dead intestine in her body? I’m thinking that I should take my health more seriously now. :disappointed_relieved:

Thank God. Good doctors are truly a blessing.

@sirBoring she has had 8 different laproscopic surgeries for endometriosis (ovarian cists) and her gall bladder out. They said any scartissue or surgery where things get moved down there can eventually lead to a stoppage of blood flow causing a section to die. They believe its from the bad gall bladder that was apparently bad for numerous years before they caught it. It started pumping toxins back into her body causing all sorts of issues. This was just this past spring it was taken out. But they cant definitivly tell me why the section died.

Sometimes we owe doctors and other medical professionals a lot. It’s good to hear about a doctor who is so concerned with the value of a person’s life. I’m glad your wife is better. I sometimes wonder what I have done to my own organs with my drinking on top of medications.
