My mother suffers from Paranoia Schizophrenia. By the time I got to the age of starting to understand things, I knew there was something unusual with my mom. I had visited my friend’s places before. Their families were different. The attacks used to come at random intervals. The difference of interval between the attacks was less. But as years passed, it began to get unbearable. Me and my brother tried convincing my dad millions of times to get some medicinal help for her. He still hasn’t done anything. All he does is that he keeps running away from the problems all covered with office work. Only my two best friends knows about this. After some point, people stopped coming to our house. She used to disrespect us and use very harsh language for us in front of all our relatives and friends. She still says that we are trying to kill her to acquire her money and property. She thinks there are cameras everywhere and whatever step she takes comes in the newspaper and TV. She believes all the characters in every movie are from her workplace. She thinks all our phones are tapped. Even if we try to talk in a calm way with her, it doesn’t work. She shouts at us in extremely loud noise that the whole block can hear her voice. Everytime I try to create a conversation, it leads to another one of her attacks. She creates stories on her own that we beat us, we belittle her, that we all should die. She thinks she is always right. Even when we state a fact when she is wrong, the attack comes right there and then irrespective of the place. She is always angry at everyone. She constantly believes that people are plotting plans to kill her or make her down. She speaks words that you can never want to hear from your mother. If I keep writing, I might take the whole night. I need help. I am not able to take this anymore. I feel like quitting. What do I do?
I don’t have good advice to offer.
However, you are invited to a new section for family members and caregivers.
