I couldn’t remember to take the pills so I went on the Risperdal shot. I had trouble getting to the clinic every 2 weeks, so we switched to Invega because it was once a month.
It worked on me, but I gained 30 pounds in a month with no end in sight. I was never full, constantly raiding the fridge at all hours, and having thirds and fourths of meals. The sheer hunger was brutal. Pdoc saw me one month after prescribing it, and he’s like no, this won’t do.
I Think some APs are hard on the stomach.
Weight gain, raised prolactin to the point of lactation, and it just didn’t work for me.
The lactation thing is a bit weird.
Haha, yes it was.
Kinda wondering if other peeps have experienced the same.
Yes i did 151515
I had very strong nausea and akathisia.
Wasn’t strong enough for me. Felt over medicated, under target efficacy.
I originally got put on risperdal on the ward. Stayed on it for two years while my first Tinkered with less effective meds. She was the of the mind to give me three lower profile AP’s at a single time, than give me anything stronger.
Switched Pdocs, new one got me off the risperidone and on Zyprexa and I love it. I can handle the side effect profile, and I’m feeling more Stable.
Risperidone helped me, but it wasn’t the best fit.
I came off risperdal many years ago because it made me hungry all the time and because voices were agressive while taking it.
Risperidone was an excellent med. Brought me into remission for five years or more.
When I eventually relapsed I resumed taking it but stopped because it was expensive.
When I went to hospital I could have resumed it but they chose to introduce me to amisulpride. Which worked wonders for me too.
