Agree completely, it’s a no no… though smoking weed and saying I can get more paranoid than you is ok
I’m not offended by the word crazy. Heck, I call what I experience crazy because it is.
What I do get bothered by is when people use the term “psychotic” inappropriately. Like when talking about someone violent or dangerous. “He murdered her! He’s psychotic!” Like that. It promotes stigma. I also don’t like it when people think someone else is worrying too much so they say “Don’t be so psychotic!” That’s misinformation as well.
I use the word crazy or insane to describe things i like. I also say something is retarded if i don’t like it. I have a cousin who has downs syndrome. I don’t mean it that way.
People also call eccentric people crazy. I think a study was done and at least 1/4 in world population had a mental disorder
It doesn’t bother me a bit. I’m “idiosyncratic”.
(If you’re going to wear a label, wear a designer label.)
I say crazy all the time, what else do you call a situation that is nuts. Or an individual that is nuts, I use the word mental all the time too. No hangups…
If the people your talking to dont know your psychiatric history, I dont think its a big deal…
hey,
Often I’ll have someone say something is schizophrenic or such…that is a worry because it’s hard not to correct that! I often do but I’m pretty open about my diagnosis…most folks at the cricket club I play for know I am a bit different…I went crazy in front of some of them years ago and people talk.
It doens’t bother me. Sometimes you are suprised by correcting people. Sometimes your suprised by some folk saying they are schizophrenic ( happened to me) or bi polar or depressive.
All communication is good as far as I’m concerned. It just has different outcomes that you can contribute too.
