Depends on the book. Big fantasy nerd so Tolkien is probably top of the list. General literature lots of different ones!
David Wong is one of my favorite consistently good authors. His books can be quite triggering, though. He writes comedy horror.
Douglas Adams is my other favorite. He has two amazing series that are kind of sci-fi and supernatural comedies. He is super clever and every sentence is exquisitely crafted.

Lauren Kate is my new favourite.
I am reading her book passion.
It is in line with how I think n so romantic.
My other favourites are Margot Sandemo who’s series isfolket I read as s teenager and young adult and johanne Hildebrand and her language is pretty cool.
I also enjoyed Christian Jacque about Ramses.
I did enjoy Steven king but only read two of his books as I do not want to read scary stuff.
I prefer history etc
I am a poor reader n it difficult to find books I can read.
I don’t read anymore, but the last series I read which I really enjoyed was Eugene Woolf, Book of the New Sun.
I also enjoyed great classics like Don Quixote, Les Miserables, 100 Years of Solitude, and others.
Probably Michael Moorcock! I like Elric of melnibone the best as he wrote the original series while seriously depressed so can really relate and totally love the fantasy genre.

for humour i like douglas adams (hitchhikers’ series) and for horror the late james herbert. stephen king gets a nod too, i liked his earlier novels but not too impressed with more recent books.

Probably Philip K Dick right now for science fiction. Haven’t read a lot of him but he seems interesting. I also like Michio Kaku and Stephen Hawking for science.
