My favorite is Spaceballs, though Blazing Saddles is a close second. I actually saw Spaceballs in the theater, at 7 years old. I thought it was the funniest damn movie, even though half of the jokes went over my head.
Before people start spouting nonsense about Blazing Saddles being racist, let me say if anything it’s anti-racism. Yes, the old N-word is used, but the racist white people in the movie are portrayed pretty much as bumbling idiots. The sharpest, most intelligent white character happens to be one who is free of racism. Anyway, just irritates me when people call it a racist movie, same kind of people who think All in the Family was a racist tv show . Okay rant over lol.
People who accuse Mel Brooks of racism can go chew on a fat one. He’s probably one of the most nicest, down to Earth directors in the business. Plus he gave a lot of actors of all types of ethnic backgrounds their start in show business.
I think my favorite by Mel Brooks is a golden oldie he did called “The Producers.” It’s hilarious! I so recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good comedy.
Men in Tights. That movie was just a hair more modern than the rest and for some reason hit me right in the funny bone, one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen and also easily my favorite version of Robin Hood.
Spaceballs bores me to tears. I like Blazing Saddles though. Still nothing beats Men in Tights though.
