What is your favorite topic in math?

I hated math but I could do stuff like subnetting IP addresses stupid fast which is basically binary to decimal conversions, not that complicated.

im just frustrated cz nobody can know whats wrong with me

When I was young, it took a while for them to find out I was autistic. And when I started to get psychosis it took a while to find out I had schizoaffective disorder. Getting a proper diagnosis takes time and the waiting sucks.

i cant even name a topic in math. my memory is bad and i finished online high school like 4 years ago, i get dreams sometimes where im back in highschool then i realize i dont remember my locker combination, any of my teachers names, or what my class schedule is, so in the dreams i wander the halls in a panic lol

I liked applying systems of equations to stuff. I liked the different ways you could do it.
Just understanding what you can do with variables is fun too.

I liked high school calculus (derivatives and integrals over R) and analytic geometry.

I like simple physics equations that are relevant to my work. I don’t like hard ones.

I like calculus and geometry. Actually Pitagoras described his theorem at the time as ’ square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of squares of the lengths of other two sides of the right-angled triangle and not even God can change that’.

Hi @anon84461028 , care to share with us what your line of work is?
I was in love with physics in my teens. I chose a different career path though.

Word problems!

I don’t like solving them, just reading them. I’m an English major :open_mouth:

what is a word mathematical problem? I have no idea.

Well it’s basically when they give you a paragraph that puts math in a real-life situation. A very juvenile example would be splitting up money for a project or figuring out how much someone gets paid if they get paid per unit produced or something.

I can’t remember what I was learning but I was sort of intrigued by mechanical maths too.

Like vectors etc.

Idk why.

Perhaps partly cos it was applying maths magic to real life

I understand. thank you.

I used to find it annoying in maths that I didn’t always know how the formulas were worked out. So I felt a bit like I wasn’t really a true mathematician. :sleepy:
