This site may be called schizophrenia.com, but really, its more broadly a place for people with psychotic symptoms regardless of what illness is causing them. not only that, plenty of us have co morbid disorders. what have you been diagnosed with?
variably i have been diagnosed officially, on paper, with schizophrenia, autism, agoraphobia, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder. im tentatively diagnosed with bulimia as well, and been told i have a lot of symptoms of ptsd by medical professionals who even suggested my psychotic symptoms were a result of ptsd. my therapist also recently went down the list in her dsm and told me i meet enough criteria to be diagnosed with both histrionic personality disorder and borderline personality disorder, so there’s that. despite being diagnosed with a laundry list of problems, i feel im very lucky and have it much better than even people diagnosed with just schizophrenia.
Inattentive ADD, Aspergers and psychosis that may or may not be schizophrenia. Too early to tell yet. They thought the psychosis was stress-related at first and there’s still a chance it is.
Schizoaffective bipolar type, ptsd and narcolepsy.
Ironically I do not get mania, and do not get negative symptoms, so I really do not qualify for the sza diagnosis but that’s what it is officially for now. My therapist isn’t even sure I have a psychotic disorder and thinks I may just have an anxiety disorder instead.
You have to work hard to get any kind of diagnosis where I live. I was psychotic for months before I got proper treatment.
I am a Paranoid Schizophrenic according to the doctors, but I think it’s ■■■■■■■■. If I had been dealt with earlier I don’t think I’d still be in a tenuous position as I am now.
The mental Health services are part of the NHS in the U.K. but they’re severely under-funded as in other places.
I was told I need psychology, but that there are only two in my town (One part-time) that has a population of 100,000, so there is a 12 month waiting list.
Officially I’m labeled as Schizo-affective disorder. I guess from my understanding it’s a mood disorder that borderlines schizophrenia. Though when I first diagnosed many years ago it was Paranoid Schizophrenia with borderline personality disorders.
I’m currently being treated for Schizophrenia (voices are still there but I can manage how I react to them as long as I stay on my medication), depression, and anxiety.
Schizoaffective, bipolar type. I have plenty of anxiety, but I consider that a part of the depression that comes with my sza; I don’t think of it as a separate illness/dx. This dx has come from psychiatrists; I don’t take seriously diagnoses that come from therapists.
I was diagnosed with ADD or ADHD (I forgot which lol) and anxiety and dysthymia (small amount of depression) when I was a teenager. When I was 19 or 20 I was diagnosed as SZA then SZ.
My diagnosis is bipolar 1 with psychotic features. One therapist I had wanted to also diagnose me with borderline personality but I think she was in error
