What I really try to avoid

Basically there are many people in my area who use alcohol, some use a lot, I try to avoid all that, and I do not really want to socialize with them, I just want to live a different type of life.

That is commendable…

That’s very smart. Alcohol is my nemesis.

I only drink alone once a month or so.

Both my mom and dad drank no alcohol at all. It was nice looking back on my childhood with parents that didn’t drink or do drugs.
Made life less complicated.

Their reason?
Not a religious one, but because they came from alcoholic families themselves and didn’t like what it did to people.

I have to agree with them, and wish one brother did too, but his addiction still clouds everyone’s life.

Neither of my parents drank or did drugs so, I don’t either. I have a rare glass of wine is all. But I still come from a very dysfunctional family. My father was uncertified nuts and non medicated. So that guarantees chaos in a home. Plus he was a pedophile who molested all of the kids in the family plus all of the neighbor kids. He even hit on a lot of the neighbor women.

I don’t like what alcohol does to my mind and my body. I respect lucidity when I can get it. My mother was an alcoholic and so is one of my brothers.

I only drink socially…I used to get drunk a lot in college and in the oil field but I just lost the will to drink…I sip beer at my sister’s cookouts but no more than two because I don’t like to drink and drive.
