What Can Rats Tell Us about Adolescent Cannabis Exposure?

Thus, overactivation of CB1Rs by cannabinoid exposure during adolescence has the ability to dramatically alter brain maturation, leading to persistent and enduring changes in adult cerebral function.

Increasing preclinical evidence lends support to clinical evidence suggesting that chronic adolescent marijuana exposure may be associated with a higher risk for neuropsychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia.

What can humans tell us about cannabis exposure…if you smoke too much weed in your life you can’t read long very scientific articles without losing your concentration 3 sentences in

Anyone else read this as “What can rats tell us about adolescent cannibal exposure”?

I’ve been trying to keep up with the potential risk increase factors for developing sz.

There was one thread about how having the flu virus during pregnancy can greatly increase the baby’s chance of developing sz later in life.

Then, there’s these studies that show early cannabis use in adolescents can also greatly increase the individual’s chance of developing sz.

Next, there’s the genetic inheritance studies that show if someone in your immediate or even extended family have sz, your chances of getting sz are higher, too.

Also, there’s those studies that say people born in urban areas are at a higher risk of developing sz.

Finally, there’s those studies that say people who experience early life duress/trauma are also at a higher risk,.

So, by this list, would we expect to see higher rates of sz within urban, high drug use, high crime neighborhoods, and within families with a history of mental illness and pregnancy complications?

The complex relationship between schizophrenic development and influence by genetics, chance, and environment is hard to keep up with.
