Wary about starting personal threads

After having started a personal thread and having posts maliciously flagged I now have my doubts this is a safe and supportive environment. Quite frankly I don’t fancy being hurt again which worsens my mental health. The opposite of what the aim of a forum like this should be.
I am therefore only going to be posting articles in the lounge and news section from now on and will keep personal experiences to myself to be safe.

You’ll get used to getting flagged the more it occurs. It happens to me all the time. Be lucky that you don’t get suspended.

I am sorry you experienced this…I would encourage you to still post personal stuff…you can’t make everyone happy…just keep your cool and everything will be alright.

The thing is I don’t mind being flagged or suspended if I have done something wrong but it’s a form of abuse when that isn’t the case and you get flagged etc.

The worst thing about being flagged is you don’t know who did it.

the flagged posts are the most interesting when you press on it

flag on

Getting flagged is not abuse. As someone who has been abused the misuse of this word aggravates me.

Really!!! Never tried flagging someone myself… Perhaps one day I will.

I meant I never flagged anyone, but it interesting 2 c what they flagged…

Getting flagged for an unjust reason is a form of abuse , as is being punished without due cause.

@firemonkey there are two senarios here, one is get flagged by the mods, another is get flagged by one of the members. While getting flagged by a mod is a serious punishment , getting falgged by a member is near nothing because there are thousands members on this forum and any of them can give you a flag out of any reason. His/her reason may be rightful also may be very personal, trivial or even strange. So you should not be very sensitive to this flag issue.

I hope you’ll reconsider @firemonkey

I am so sorry you feel this way, @firemonkey. I’ve been flagged and even suspended numerous times, too many times to even count, and for some odd reason I’m still here. I agree with you that to get flagged and suspended is not good for our mental health. I don’t know what we can do about it either.

I can relate. I too have my doubts this is a safe and supportive environment.
I read many comments from people - having to apologize or having to explain themselves - indicating that your view is shared by many.

I think part of the solution is to keep calm and keep sharing - just what you are doing now. Congratulations ! :sunny:
People are not intrinsically evil or nasty in my opinion - they may be just misguided , acting out of fear or it could be a misunderstanding.

I for one love your posts

Totally agree.
Given this is such an issue maybe @SzAdmin has an idea?
Could we have a discussion around strategies to mitigate mental health effects caused by the exigencies of running a forum?
I think one suggestion could be an edit function on posts ? so people have a chance to edit their posts rather than just have them flagged or suspended when it could well be misunderstanding/poor wording?
Maybe there are other ideas ?

I don’t care any more tbh lol, i actually encourage it :joy:

i would rather someone choose the option to discuss it with me if they have an issue but thats not going to happen haha,

all i can say is that you will never please everyone

its not nice, especially if its innocent, its like i am being unfairly judged and have no way to defend myself.
