What is your list?
Just saw this list in my feed this morning. So i searched for the separate article to post.
Not one of those guys ever had a cell phone.
I agree with about half.
I think Cary Grant should have been number 1.
He’s not my favorite actor by a long shot,
But there’s no denying he’s amazing on film.
Drama, comedy, doesn’t matter, he did it all effortlessly.
I was just noticing that they are all men. So I did an internet search, and as I thought , actor is the proper terminology for both men and women, so feel free to not just limit any lists to men.
Actress however, refers to women exclusively.
I’d put Gary Oldman, Laura Dern, and Rita Hayworth on there for sure.
Daniel Kaluuya.
He’s young, but he’s also incredible.
If his career stopped now I’d add him to the list.
I know all of these lists will always be subjective, and that’s fine. I just feel that there is always some sort of bias where people think the best of everything is in the past. IMHO, Daniel Day Lewis deserves to be in the top ten of anybody’s list, along with Patrick Stewart, and Ian Mckellen. I’d also add Anthony Hopkins to my top 10.
I love classic movies, and watch them all the time with my Dad, but to say some of these are the best ten actors is just kind of meh to me. I’d also like to clarify that I don’t disagree with the entire list.
After typing this out I did see that it hasn’t been updated since 2008, but I still think this list suffers from the bias of “the better days.”
It’ll be interesting where I can watch all these old films on streaming services?
