It’s like a cool nickname imo
I would never call one of my psychiatrists that to their face. I make sure I am always polite and respectful as it is essential to have a good rapport with them when you need to make a request regarding treatment.
some might take offense and some not, depending on their own humor and personality
In America, it’s not considered seriously as a term
I mean it’s more theatrically used than anything else
It’s just not something I’ll ever take a chance on. It is so hard to get a doctor at all right now in my country that if you do have one, you are darn well respectful.
In Ireland its a slang word used sometimes
I call all my doctors shrinks. No offence intended.
Not usually to their face tho. Im bowing like a tart calling them “Sir / Miss”
I don’t think anyone would call their pdoc a shrink to their face, it would be wrong and impolite
on the other side coin it’s not 2 bad in fairness
