Ideally dx should matter less than the array of symptoms a person presents with. Unfortunately though the help and treatment you get tends to be linked to the dx you’re given.
If you are ASD/NVLD but not diagnosed as such,for example, you are not going to be given much,if any,help,support and treatment for that.
It’s also possible to be diagnosed properly and STILL not get the treatment you need. Thank heavens for the fact I was in a 12 Step program and was able to apply those principles to my illness. AA taught me to become my own best treatment.
Agreed , but you are more likely to get the treatment you need if your array of problems are fully recognised and a better quality diagnosis/ses are given.
