The (American) football thread

I could definitely see you guys going 9-8.

Man I wish I had Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb on my Bucs. Those 2 dudes are crazy good.

Chubb is my favorite player – he is so fun to watch. I hope he’s a lifelong Brown like Joe Thomas haha but I’d be surprised if he was

I think the Bucs have a good chance to win their division. Winfield Jr is probably my favorite player for them

Winfield Jr, in my opinion, is our 2nd best player. I’d say Tristian Wirfs is our best player.

We play in a pretty shitty division so I think 10 wins will be enough to win the division. We’ll see.

So happy football is back. Lets goooo :muscle::muscle:

Yessir!

I know you said you don’t watch much college football – man, you are missing out haha it’s so fun. It’s my favorite, although I love the NFL and even high school football. I could easily sit here and talk ball all day haha

I definitely watch more NFL than college football. I like watching certain prospects in college, players my Bucs could possibly draft in the future.

I don’t have a favorite college team though. I like watching 2 ranked teams play each other.

Do you have a favorite college team?

Yeah, I’m an Ohio State fan. Born and raised in central Ohio. But don’t worry, I’m not an annoying OSU fan lol our fanbase has a bad reputation.

I think OSU will be pretty good this year. A lot of tough games, though. Sometimes I can hardly watch haha

Did OSU join the SEC like Oklahoma? If so yeah I’d say they have a tough schedule this year… Oklahoma should get some better recruits since they’re SEC now though

Ohio state should join the SEC, would be great to see… after all… they almost beat Georgia a few years back now

I think they’re fine with being in the Big Ten, both in terms of academics and sports revenue. Big Ten schools are paid more than SEC schools because they usually have better academic research. To be in the Big Ten, with the exception of Nebraska, you have to be credited to the AAU. SEC does not have this requirement, and hence most schools in the SEC cannot even go to the Big Ten.

What does it mean to be credited to the aau? Sounds like better NIL deals to be honest

It’s a academic conglomeration of schools. You get to join if your academics are higher and more prestigious, or at least to their level.

So southerners are slower after all?

I like this thread.

I was a late night watcher of sport so over here in Australia I grew up watching NFL in the late 80’s so I’m fond of Washington for sure. Thing is I moved to New Orleans in the early noughties but the Saints were a basket case back then…

Yes. I followed them to Superbowl victory but I’m still split between two teams but love me some NFL. It’s just so hard like most sports to maintain that dynasty like back in the old days. Like not complaining as free agency has changed the game for sure but it really shouldn’t all be about money…yeah…there’s rules but it’s America …c’mon. We can’t even keep money out of local sport so it’s not an even playing field…

So. Go Washington and The Saints!

No, lol, there’s still Vanderbilt that is extremely prestigious. I guess the south just doesn’t place as high of importance to collegiate academics. While I as a Midwestener make fun of the south all the time, realistically, they’re not slower than anyone else. Even if I do think the heat does get to people.

OSU is still in the Big Ten. But they play some tough teams, like Oregon, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan. A couple of other tough games, like Nebraska and a much improved Michigan State. It won’t be easy this year for OSU (or anyone in the Big Ten) that’s for sure

Yeah… college is more about sports and partying I guess if you’re down south than actually being educated it seems like haha… but maybe not… I never went to college… and yeah, there is still prestigious schools. Just obviously not as many as somewhere like the northeast

Oh for sure there’s still solid teams in the big ten… I was just saying if a school was good, and competitive enough, then I don’t why they don’t try and join the SEC. May not be a good idea for a school like OSU, but that was a really good move for Oklahoma imo

Who’s winning the Super Bowl this year guys?!?!?!

While I want my Bucs to win it, i’m a realistic fan and know were not that good.

If I was a betting man, i’d say the 49’ers are going to win it all.

I’d say the Kansas City chiefs win it all, if it’s as rigged as I believe it is lol
