Stardust: a poem

Candlelight refracting through the colored glass

The faint smell of wormwood and cinders lingering in the air

A hot summer night suspended

in time.

Clinging on to moments fleeting

Audibly, my heart is beating

Lost in phrases worth repeating

Daylight creeps inside.

And, as if by sweet seduction

Rendered stardust by reduction

Singing of the heart’s destruction

In stillness I reside.
