Skittles original

I was scrolling through fb and came across an article that stated that all original skittles are the same flavour, only the scent and colour are different.

It is supposedly to do with how we are conditioned by life that certain colours evoke certain flavours in the brain.

I haven’t had them in many years as my teeth couldn’t take it, but I remember the distinct flavour of each of them. We used to share a packet among friends and we selected a colour. I always chose purple and green.

To me, I found them distinct and I reckon that this is simply a marketing gimmick spread to increase sales, however, if it is true that they are all the same fruity flavour and separated by scent and colour, I would be very surprised.

Also, if there are now so many varieties and flavours, why would only original skittles be all the same? I don’t believe this skittle myth.

What do you reckon?

Scent affects taste actually (I read somewhere). Ever notice if you plug your nose your taste goes away?

When I was younger my friends would mix skittles, buckfast(it’s a tonic wine) and cough syrup and drink it. We called it white rabbit. It wasn’t very nice

Are you Scottish @anon47167357 ? The buckfast and sweets mix… It reminds me of deep fried mars bar

I don’t think it’s that popular used to be just the Alcos who would drink it to get really drunk! It’s the most disgusting thing iv ever drank. Did you ever drink it? Deep fried mars bar sounds :yum:

I was born in England, But as an anarchist I dislike saying I’m English. Deep fried mars bar travelled south from Scotland and as with the stereotype of “alchies” drinking Buckfast in the UK, as the drink of choice as for the homeless.

I have never had either. Neither Buckfast or deep fried mars bar. I was just stereotyping, much to my own disapproval.
