As well as new phrases, some shortened versions of existing terms have been added, including “delulu” – a play on the word “delusional”, with a similar definition: “believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to”.
Language itself evolves over time. The Internet has made a difference in language. Especially the English language.
10 years ago the word “fire” meant some thing that burns. Now it means some thing that is an adjective for something good. My generation does not really use that word but it is being used by the younger generation
The internet has changed language. I often read that something was hot af. Or cold af. Or cool af.
The new language can lead to words being lost in translation. I was talking to a younger woman about discounts on the internet. I said that Amazon has discounts on Depends. She said WTF? I said no, AARP.
These types of words and phrases typically come and go so fast in popular usage that it seems kind of silly to include them in the dictionary.
People can just look up these popular words and phrases in the online Urban Dictionary if they arent sure what they mean.
