Skeleton sketch

Many errors … I need to practice this. I will start drawing every bone to memorize this

Looks like you have it quite well down already

(You’re only missing the Fibula in the lower leg from what I can tell)

the placement of the leg bones to the hip are off, the length of the arms is wrong, the bones in the hands while hard to see are not positioned correctly, the bones in the feet are off, the skull is off. the shoulder blades are the wrong shape, Hip bones are the wrong shape, tailbone is too long, backbone is the wrong shape, distance between rib cage and hip bone is too close, backbone needs to be thicker in the middle.

Mostly I am struggling with proportions. Even with the errors I mentioned above adding muscle and fat over that structure would still yield a decent looking human. Though the tailbone was too long.

Overall not bad, but needs a lot of work.

Was my first attempt at a skeleton and I did it from memory.

I think you are doing a pretty good job at it - once you keep on practicing, it will be perfect - but it looks great thus far

then it is good…

Yeah, you’re right about the fine details. I was looking more at locations rather than shape or lengths of bones…you are your own critic, and doing that makes perfection…

Sync ! We posted that at the same time…

I have been seeing a lot of skeletons around me lately. So rather than be weirded out I decided i needed to study figure sketches. So i am going to try to force myself into not so populated public places at a distance and draw the skeletons I see. That should help me keep my figure sketches loose and learn proportions and lengths.

Cool…and it’s awesome you put it to creative work like that…wish I had some of my older drawings…though some I am glad I DON’T have…

I draw and used to paint, creating skeletons is not an easy task, it wasn’t for me - I have a difficult time with arms and hands especially. My strong suit are abstract faces

I am obsessed with hands. My fingers are curved and bent in wrong directions and I envy people with long feminine fingers and i love to see the bones show through the skin and the veins that make a “Y” on the hand. I have got really good at drawing hands. But i have issues with feet and the skull.

Thank you kindly. Please check out some of my other work here: http://Instagram.com/ajvetrova

I don’t know where you live, but they used to have this thing called “Bodies” or something. Scientists used unclaimed corpses (I don’t remember from where. A military conflict I think) and did stuff like take off the skin chemically, dissolve everything but the veins, stuff like that. Not to be cruel or gross, but to give the average person a true view of the human anatomy.
I felt bad for the people who died, but at least they weren’t killed for the exibit. They were dead already. What I saw was awesome though! I didn’t learn things like where the femur is but I did learn how amazing we all are on the inside.
They might cut you a special deal if you are an artist and want to sketch. It never hurts to ask.
