Serum levels of BDNF, folate and homocysteine: In relation to hippocampal volume and psychopathology in drug naïve, first episode schizophrenia

I just started taking methylfolate 2 weeks ago I’m hoping it will help . Trying for 8 weeks

In wiki’ing BDNF I see that it is linked to depression also. It says:

the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate, voluntary exercise, caloric restriction, intellectual stimulation, curcumin and various treatments for depression (such as antidepressants and electroconvulsive therapy and sleep deprivation) increase expression of BDNF in the brain

So if the study is concluding that there is a decreased level of BDNF and Folic acid in 1st time SZ, then to try to prevent SZ increase the levels? And the increased levels of homocysteine serum may be due to not enough vitamin B6, Folic acid, and B12 in the diet, which all manage how homocycsteine is processed by the body. So children and possibly people who already have SZ should eat their potatos, greens, beans, fortified breakfast cereals, fish and soy/rice milk.
