Seroquel withdrawal round 2

Rebound insomnia is SO MUCH FUN. Not. I am literally only able to sleep for however long the xyrem lasts. Since it has such a short half life, that’s been 4 hours. So I’ve gotten 4 hours of sleep the past 3 nights in a row :crazy_face: Getting pretty delirious. Reasonably concerned about my symptoms acting up. But what can I do…I have to get over this withdrawal. It’s just horrible. Has anyone here quit seroquel before? How long did it take you to be able to sleep again?

Did you quit cold turkey?

I was already on the lowest possible dose when I came off :disappointed: maybe I should try to split that too?

When I tapered off risperidone 15mg I just took 6mg for 5 days and then just quit. I had no withdrawal. But when I stopped amisulpride I had nausea

Many months ago I took a much lower dose of Seroquel for a few days. I felt really exhausted and didn’t feel good. @Anna I’ve noticed you mention difficulties with a few medications. All I can suggest is follow doctors advice.

I split it as best I could. Thanks it’s a good idea. (It’s not ER or anything so it is safe to split)

I’m supposed to go off seroquel entirely because it’s not safe to take with my new med. I was only on a low dose for sleep.

I stopped Seroquel a few months back. Was taking 25mg for sleep. Step 1: took 3/4 pill for 2 weeks then 2. 1/2 a pill for 2 weeks 3. 1/4 (2 weeks) then stopped and had trouble sleeping for about 10 to 15 days.

Wow 25mg seems really low compared to hundreds of milligrams people with sz on monotherapy with it have to take. But I know that is what is taken for sleep.

Cool that sounds much better than when I stopped 50 mg the first time, nearly 2 months later I was still having awful insomnia

I went from 800, to 600, to 400, to 200, to 100 and finally to 0 once. At 0 it took me a few days to sleep roughly normal again. But I’ve always been a very proficient sleeper.

Oh dang you dropped straight from 100 and adjusted in a few days? Impressive.
