Didnt read the article but Id imagine postmodernists were arguing allegedly real scientific knowledge is socially constructed. I guess the position of scientific realists is that scientific knowledge accurately reflects the world the way it is. The position I would take in such an argument is that modern science changes the world in the name of progress, so science doesnt reflect the world but embodies cultural values of progress, advancement, empiricism etc. If science aimed to observe and keep the world the way it is starting a few centuries ago things might be different but being the same as they were.
