Schizophrenia Education Day (Boston)

Progress in Schizophrenia Care: Emphasis on Prevention and Recovery. A free educational program exclusively for patients, families, and friends

Program Description

The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry invites you to attend the 13th Annual Schizophrenia Education Day: Progress in Schizophrenia Care: Emphasis on Prevention and Recovery.

Now in its 13th year, this exciting event will offer an update on new research findings and important clinical topics for patients and their families with schizophrenia. In the morning, participants will learn about the importance of prevention and optimal psychiatric treatment to achieve recovery and reduce stigma. The afternoon will feature a description of our Illness and Recovery Management Program and a patient panel describing their experiences in this psychosocial treatment program. Last, we will discuss the challenge of diagnosing and treating cancer in patients with schizophrenia. We will share our vision of modern psychiatric treatment that is preventive, patient-centered and oriented towards recovery and physical health.

This program is made possible by the generosity of a donor family who wishes to remain anonymous.

If anyone attends here - please let us know how it goes.

I was asked earlier tonight if I was going to go…I still might as I live within a reasonable distance.

Great - please let us know how it goes and what you think of the presentations.

I want to go. Montreal to boston is 5 hour drive but it’s in the morning so i have to plan a weekend there.

I used to go to McGill U. - I think they have similar things up there in Montreal. Thats a long drive to Boston. If you do go - go with a family member who would also benefit.

Do you know of these groups:
