Post a quote:

actually this is a misquote - it was at a concert - what she sang was 'if you’re offering me diamonds and rust…" then said ‘I’ll take the diamonds’
.

“Everyone knew it was impossible until someone came along who didn’t know that.”

Please explain it for me…

Do it now, sometimes later comes never.

Today is the beginning of the rest of your life - No idea who say it.

Fear less, hope more. Eat less, chew more. Talk less, say more. Hate less, love more, and never underestimate the power of forgiveness.” — Abigail Van Buren, a.k.a. Dear Abby

If you gaze unflinchingly at the darker aspects of life - the terrifying things - you start to become affected by it. For instance, if you ponder some of the ways people can suffer horribly, after a while you start to become disturbed and frightened by it. Sometimes I think about operation Barbarosa, the Nazi invasion of Russia in World War II, and I think about how many people the Germans killed, and the fact that they were fighting in -30 degree F weather, and that the Germans often didn’t have adequate winter clothing, and it can make me uneasy. When I think about the fact that there have been at least six times in the twentieth century that over a million people have been massacred it gives me a morose view of human nature. There is no shortage of dark things to ponder, and when you do that if can bum you out.

Great…I had come across this quotes many times when I searched Nietzsche…I am glad I found it’s meaning now…Thanks for explaining it…So in other words if you think too much about bad things, eventually the bad things become part of you…And if you look towards good aspects of things, the good ones should become part of you…Eventually healthy self and thoughts will become part of you…

Thanks heaps crmby, I appreciate it…

I like this one, considering he was a Persian poet in the 13th century, he had a lot of wisdom, not because he’s Persian but because of how long ago it was. When you can so readily resonate with them in the modern age! Can’t quite say the same for my own country.

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.
~ Nikita Krushchev

(To add to that, they also build dams where there are no rivers…)

also,

“Everything on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, and every person a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence.”

Two of my favourite quotes that have always stuck with me throughout my life…

“The first step you never take, will be the longest journey you’ll ever have”

(anonymous?)

and…

“Everything in moderation…including moderation”

(I believe Ray Davies from the Band The Kinks said this)

A quote I made up myself. I may have inadvertently lifted it off of someone else, but I’m pretty sure it’s original. At least I hope it is…

Bad art can make you laugh.
Good art can make you think
Great art can destroy you.

A friend said this once - The illness and label doesn’t define me but is just a part of who I am.

And one more - Normal is nothing but a setting on the washing machine - Whoopi Goldberg

Sweet.

I’m 49 years old. When I was a teenager I only lived one life. Youth today are now living 2…their real life and then their internet persona life.

But your internet persona, in most cases, is not who you really are at heart as an individual. When these two worlds collide it can quite often lead to misunderstanding, pain, stress and anxiety and self-questioning and self-analyzing…and sow doubt within your soul.

Your friend’s quote reminded me a little bit of the “A man isn’t his job” quote.

This is the troubling aspect of the Net. When I was young and you had a bad day and said something rash, flippant, cruel, racy, outrageous, etc. It was contained to your own little group and neighbourhood. Now good people are and have been destroyed by one or two comments made throughout the course of their lives…and having their whole personality being defined by those words only. We’re all half good, half evil. It’s that blend/mixture that makes us all human…sometimes wonderful…and somedays brutal.
