My BMI is around 23. I weigh 80 kg. I used to weigh 107 kg, so I’ve lost a substantial amount of weight.
I currently weigh 219 pounds and I am a bit on the short side.
My BMI is 35
I am considered obese
Soon I’ll be going on a powerful weight loss medication that is actually a diabetes drug.
I do have diabetes and will be taking it along side my Metformin.
The name of the drug is called Ozempic.
It’s an injectable medication.
Hopefully I’ll lose some significant weight
on it.
Does that imply that you have to take the med permanently or is the weight loss permanent?
I just make it into the obese range. What piiiisses me off is that when I went off my medication the weight just fell off and I was my normal pre schiz weight of just 60kg. I loathe the medication and what it does to some of us.
Since I have diabetes, it’s probably going to be a permanent thing, if I tolerate the side effects
These meds are killing me.
Off meds I had a normal weight.
The pounds dropped off of me so rapidly.
I am desperate
I think that I have to cut a meal out so that I don’t gain any weight, Quetiapine 50mg.
I’m 5’6 and 235 pounds. Definitely considered obese.
Which medication were you on at the time, @Sarah?
@Wave, I hope the Ozempic works well for you— weight is a very frustrating issue for a lot of us, myself included.
Yeah I’m 5’6 also @TheCanuk
My BMI is now 3.0. So chuffed that I actually lost weight over Xmas.
I agree Wave, these meds are slowly killing us. Why they cause weight gain in some and not others baffles me. The depression caused from the weight gain is another killer.
I really feel for you.
Hi @Schztuna I was originally put on Abilify and went from 60kg to 83kg. I went off my medication against Doctor’s advice and the weight loss was quick and dramatic, back down to 60kg in six months.
I was hospitalised and put on Rexulti and the weight went on ever so quickly to the point where I am now 86kgs.
Like Wave, I just can’t take it anymore.
I’ve got you all beat. 5’2” and 260 pounds. I’m on the keto diet though. I’ve lost 3 pounds so far.
I’m obese
When I came off meds my weight dropped instantly but then went back on fast with going back on them
I’ve maintained the exact same now 4 years and doesn’t bother me so much anymore thank god
Thank you for your reply @Sarah, and so sorry that happened to you
I understand the frustration regarding weight gain from APs as well— I ballooned tremendously when I was prescribed Zyprexa around 7 years ago, and quite frankly, my metabolism has not been the same since.
I do hope you’re doing well, and wishing you the best in your journey
Average weight for my height
I’m stuck around 230lbs. I can’t seem to lose weight. It must be my meds because I eat less than 1,000 calories a day
