dawning of a new day
as i ride a two cup
coffee buzz onto
Youtube, seeking to
occupy my overactive
mind with music and
videos, a distraction
that sometimes works
and sometimes doesn’t,
facing a new day
that stretches ahead
of me ominously, one
that could go one of
two ways and the
cynic in me isn’t
hoping for the best
