reading this article on pixel art which is very well written. How to start making pixel art #1. An absolute beginner’s guide | by Pedro Medeiros | Pixel Grimoire | Medium
This is heavily inspired by an image in that tutorial. I try to copy a bit just to understand the process.
I find shadows and light SO insanely difficult. Like how do you shade mountains? I’m not able to think it through in my head, so I guess my best bet is to learn from other images.

Ty! I’m pretty happy with the colors in the last one. I went a bit too crazy in the first. Fun though.
In the first one, the sky and ground/castle has almost separate color schemes. Works by themselves, but looks too much together, looking at it now.

It’s called Aseprite! Costs 20 USD, but there are free alternatives. I think there are free alternatives mentioned in the guide in the first post.
