It’s a bit of an adjustment. Hospice doesn’t want me taking xanax. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of change?
I have not. Did they say why they don’t want you taking xanax?
It’s different from other meds. I think it’s called a benzo.
ah…i didn’t realize it was a benzo…
wait a minute, I just looked it up and so is ativan
I’ll mention it the next time my nurse comes
ok. Well, I’m not trying to get you into an argument with your nurse. Just making conversation and was curious why they took you off.
I’m on Ativan. It’s a benzo just like Xanax. Though it’s not as strong as Xanax.
@PinCushion My father took ativan when he was in hospice care. I dont recall the specific details since it was over 20 years ago.
It would seem to be a lighter version of the same class.
Both benzodiazapines. Like don’t get me wrong. I had a gran mal when I stopped xanax abruptly a long time ago so it’s probably worth the move…They can be addictive and lead to dependence but it’s not a bad thing in the long run from a quick glance at things. I think long run less is more with benzo’s.
Keep up with your treatment team if you have one! ie talk to your doc about it!
