New Drug for Schizophrenia - in Research, Looks Promising

A group of researchers in Australia are getting closer to finding a solution to helping sufferers of schizophrenia.

Researchers at Monash University, together with United States researchers, may have found a drug which “dials down” the effects of the disease.

The drug, called SB269652, could potentially modulate the effects of dopamine - a key chemical in the brain - on the brains’ dopamine receptors.

While only in its early stages, it could help reduce the effect of dopamine on the brain, without the side effects of other drugs which turn it off completely.

It would be very awesome if this get very big and successful, hopefully in the next 5 years it would reach phase 3 or coming out in the market

Thx for the news

not to birng our hopes down but I think it take an of average of 12 year for a drug to be in the market.
wish I was wrong and it could be sooner though.

I think it depends on if the FDA fast tracks it or not.
