My Kat is not eating yet 🐟

It is expensive :smile_cat: but if you have to get a kitty with no appetite eating again, it can get them over the hump. Worked miracles for my CRF cat for years.

@Rhubot
@Moonbeam
@Csummers

and everybody else.
She has her paw up sometimes too. I wonder if she has been recently declawed. When we asked the shelter that it is banned in canada, she said she is 4 years old. And the cat also has been styled (shaved) like a lion. Makes her look like she is wearing fur boots with a lion’s tail.

I hope everything will be okay because I really like her!

I just made a scrambled egg. She is smelling a lot but not eating.
Then I made her canned white tuna and first tried the water - she did not drink then added the tuna and she did not eat.

I spoke to the shelter and they told me to bring her in tomorrow at 7 pm, the vet will check her by Thursday morning so she will stay there.

I have extremely high hopes that she will start eating tomorrow morning.

She looks very tired and so skinny too

Just put her in a small dark room with the food, some water and the cat milk. Also litter box and any bedding she likes. If she asks to come out, let her, but she just might need things to be quiet and manageable right now. A bathroom or closet would be good. Poor sweetheart. I wish they could see her earlier in the day!

Ask the vet if it is safe to feed cats tuna. I read once that you should not feed tuna to cats. Incidentally, for anyone else with a cat reading this, I also read that you should not give cats milk.

Here’s a good link regarding some foods you you shouldn’t feed cats. Tuna packed in water is OK in moderation but not as a regular everyday meal.

@MsBuddha. Can you ask the shelter if the vet can see your cat any earlier tomorrow? 7pm seems pretty late in the day.

My 19 year old kitty ate the “Chunk lite tuna” (+ dry food) for most of her adult life. This was my ex husbands way to spoil her since she wasn’t supposed to live past 5 years due to only having one kidney-the vets told us this at her 1st vet visit at 5 weeks old.

Hope vet helped. My suggestions are to let it outside if you haven’t been. It should come back if it has been with you a few days. Does she have permanent access to water? Even a fussy cat should like one of these: Tinned cat food with fish in it or raw minced beef or cooked chicken .

Don’t let the cat out. It might run away.

Yeah I took her to the vet. She is very skinny too.
The person said the cat has to stay there till tomorrow morning/afternoon to see if she has anything.
I hope she does not, she is such a lovely cat.

So hope for the best by tomorrow :slight_smile:

But that may be what it is upset about if it has been cooped up at a shelter and is used to getting outside in its previous life, and it still can’t get outside in its new home.

i hope your kitty is well. do not let it outside old school vets recommend it but newer vets recommend keeping cats in doors for their own good.

I think if I leave her out, someone might steal her too other than getting lost or sick =(

If she is a long hair cat, she could have fur balls to cough up, too. But it sounds like she does need a vet if she is losing weight and tired. Did you/ are you taking her to the vet soon?
