My Google Chrome turned from white to black, help

Everything’s against a black background for some reason. It makes the symbols on the tabs hard to read. I changed the theme in chrome settings but the URL bar remains black regardless of chosen theme. Any idea why this happened on its own and how to go back to classic chrome colors?

I use a different browser than Google Chrome but most browsers have different themes. For example, my browser has “dark theme” which changes the background to black and “light theme” changes it back to white.

I looked into it and it appears that Chrome now uses your operating system’s dark/light mode settings to decide what it should do. I like having the system in dark mode and the browser in light mode, which is no longer an option thanks to the changes.

Are you sure it’s no longer an option? I had a similar thing happen to me when I had my PC. I was able to switch back to the regular mode. I totally forgot how otherwise I’d be more helpful. Are you sure there isn’t an option to do so anymore?

I can’t find the option for dark or light mode myself. I checked in settings. I’m not sure whether or not it’s possible, I’m just guessing based on what I could find out. I’ll probably just get used to the black background.

Hmm… when it happened to me there was a notification that asked if I wanted to try the dark mode. I stupidly clicked yes, then that was set as default. I Google searched and figured out how to revert it. I think there may be a way. I don’t remember how, are you signed into your Google account on your browser? Sorry I’m not much help.

Yes I’m signed in. I’m getting used to it though.

Dang a shame I’m not in front of my computer otherwise I might be able to guide you through it. I think it has something to do with preference while signed on. I forgot how to get to that menu.
