If the dog was there first that settles it.
My mom has two recliners in her living room, no couch and she’s the only one living there so her dog has her own recliner. I laugh when i go over there and see them both in recliners.

My dog does the exact same thing to me. Except that its my bed that she plops down right in the middle of whenever I get up. Then I’m forced to either move her or sleep on the edge. I recently got a larger bed though , so its became a bit easier lately.
She still plops right down in the middle but there is more room on the sides now.

My dog does exactly the same lol he steals anyones seat as soon as they leave the room
