I have been wondering about explaining my art. I have been wondering about it a lot. I have this way that I do not give descriptions of my art. I don’t want to open up too much about the picture, I want the viewer to have their own interpretation. In my art, music and song lyrics are an important part of my art. Every picture I make has its own soundtrack. Music tells me to pick colors, subjects, brush strokes. Without music, there is no art by me.
But the question of descriptions… my friend challenged me to think more about coming out with descriptions for my art. And I have been trying to do it more. So I’m working on it.
Thank you everyone for commenting on my work. These pictures I posted are… well, not so dramatic as what my style is. My art might not be suitable for sensitive people and children. My art is therapy for me, and my art deals with dark themes such as mental issues, suicide, self harm and childhood trauma. For me art is venting, art is therapy, art is healing. That is why I deal with such dark subjects.
I apologize my grammar, english is not the first language for me.
To me, moths and butterflies represent some sort of transformation and growth. From a caterpillar into a moth/butterfly. It is fascinating. And how moths are drawn to the light. And they are so beautiful, and I’m terrified of them. I’m such a wuss, I fear all insects. But butterflies and moths are important to me and I also find it fun to draw them.
You nicely paint moths because they are indeed very colorful which may not be known by many people. I have a butterfly/moth collection from the early 1980s with me. I used to grow also moths from caterpillars to full grown beautiful moths. I saw how they are transforming, but then I added them to my collection.
Thank you for comments. I just got new watercolour brushes and they work wonders. It is easy to blend colours, the brush does most of the work! no really, these brushes are way different from my old ones, they carry water and colour more. also the painting gets really wet so controlling color spillage is something to be learned.
oh, I wish I had a butterfly collection. I have sometimes dreamed of growing moths, I especially love Bombyx Mori moths (silk moth) but I fear them a lot. a collection though would be amazing!
The brand is Polina Bright. they are expensive but worth the money! watercolour is my favourite way to make pictures, I love how unpredictable the colors are when you add water and colors spill everywhere, but at the same time you get beautiful colors and surface, and the technique is very versatile.
In one of your paintings you have Death’s-head hawkmoth, which is quite nice. I like this moth a lot, it somehow reminds us how important our lives are and we exist here on the earth just temporarily, we are born, we grow and we die.
