We had a few drinks. He is really cool. He is 77 and is the closest thing I have to a friend. We talk for hours.

I overlooked the word “pensioner” and thought, “Oh, it is okay to have friend who is a ‘prisoner’ because I do too”.
@Zoom I misread pensioner as prisoner too.
