My dishwasher suddenly won’t latch and lock.
It needs to do this in order to function.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can try to fix it without calling my landlord?
I will if I have to, but gods know I don’t want to.
Does the latch feel like it has resistance if you push against it? Or is it loose?
i have a small one that was expensive a few years ago and i used it occasionally but i don’t need it now, it was a pretty cool device.
Oh btw make sure the dishwasher is off when you test the latch.
Usually the issue is that a piece of food got wedged in somewhere. That is an easy fix.
Occasionally, the spring in the latch breaks. That would require calling the landlord, unless you can find a replacement part cheap online and feel confident about replacing it.
Thanks guys, but I think I’ve figured the problem.
The top shelf has a wheel popped off and is leaning a little,
Pushing the door open.
I think that’s the problem.
I’m going to try to fix it and see.

Worst case scenario you can use the washing machine as replacement. Jk
